Our Weekend: Not As We Planned

This weekend turned out nothing like we had planned.  It was a little disappointing, we had a lot of fun stuff planned, but ya know, life happens sometimes.

Friday night we were going to go to dinner and to play with one of Eli's bffs.  Then, we were going to swing by our community's Relay for Life event at the stadium.

Right about as we were getting ready to leave for dinner, I noticed Eli felt very hot.  I took his temperature and sure enough, 101.3.  I've been fighting a sore throat for about 10 days and my voice has been going in and out all week.  Teaching certainly didn't help, so I wasn't feeling so hot myself.  Looks like a night in for the Taffs.  Eli was asleep by 8, but woke up at 11 and was insistent on a bath.  Normally I wouldn't have played that game, but his fever hadn't broken yet and I was hoping a bath would help.

Saturday we woke up to RAIN, and a lot of it.  Nana and Puddin' were on their way up to go to the Braves game with us Saturday night.  Eli (and his Daddy and Puddin') had really been looking forward to "go to the baseball field and see players hit the ball".  We've been talking about it for weeks now.

The game ended up being cancelled due to all of the rain.  It was probably for the best so that I didn't have to be the bad guy and tell Eli no.  Nana and Puddin' still spent the day with us.  Eli kind of went in phases on how he felt.  He sure tried to be himself and play with Nana and Puddin'.  He even made Nana bring his horse, Durango, in front of the television while we watched all of the coverage of the Kentucky Derby.  This was right before he threw up.  Milk.  All over me.  Fun times.

Despite nothing going like we had planned this weekend, we still had a good time with Nana and Puddin'.  Sometimes its just nice to stay at home and be lazy.  And have a Sunday morning breakfast of doughnuts.  That's always winning!
