The Library

Today we got up and went to the library (anyone else sing that Sesame Street song in their head?  Yeh...me either.)

When I think of summer, I think of trips to the library.  We used to go all the time in the summer.  We always participated in the summer reading program and set goals for how many books we were going to read.  Today was a little like reliving my childhood.  Part of me wished my mom and brother and sister had been there too, like old times sake. : ) (I think I have a problem. ha.)  One thing that excites me about Eli getting older is instilling in him a love for reading.  I hope we share this! : )

Today, Eli (and Wesley, ahem...) each got library cards!  I think one boy found it more exciting than the other...

We spent a good hour there.  In addition to reading a few books,

we also played puzzles and games!

Eli (and Mommy) checked out a stack of books.  We've read through most of them.

We plan on going about once a week this summer.  Free (and air conditioned) entertainment is always a plus in my book (pun intended)!  Today was the perfect way to kick off summer.

Summer Bucket List

Eli and I sat down tonight and made a list of all the things he wanted to do this summer.  He'll be going to school 2 days a week (most weeks), and we have a few family vacations planned, so I want to be intentional with our time.  I know I'll blink and another school year will be beginning.

I was impressed with the list Eli came up with.  He had several "deas" (idea - i).  We plan to start on some of these things this week, so stay tuned! : )

*Go to 'Carolina for Zs wedding. (done! pictures to come)

*Go to Auburn.

*Plan his birthday party.

*Go to the beach.

*See Ginny and Pops.

*Go swimming.

*Go to the library.

*Play lots with Abigail.

*Go bowling with Nana and Puddin'.

*Go to the bookstore.

*Ride on a new bike.

*Make ice cream.

*Go to "sotter" camp.

*Go to the movies ... and get popcorn and a drink!

*Slip n slide.

*Take a helicopter ride.

Mommy plans to throw in a few arts and crafts, and some school work in there too.  I'm looking forward to these next ten weeks at home with all of my boys!

Last Day of K3

I can't believe it's the end of another school year!  K-3 is over.  We won't even go into the fact that there's just one more year until kindergarten.....

I can't get over how much this boy has grown (and learned) this year!

Technically, it's not his last day, but it is of the regular school year.  Eli will be going two days a week to a summer camp.

It's been a fantastic year, and I'm so proud of all Eli has learned.  I hope he always loves school as much as he does right now (and has as great of teachers as he does now)!

Eli's First Race

This weekend Eli ran his first official race!  It was a 1k at a local elementary school.  He was so excited.  He's seen Daddy run numerous races, so he was anxious for his turn!  A 1k was the perfect distance (about .6 miles) for this almost 4 year old.

Afterwards, the kids got to play on the playground and they had snowcones and blow-ups for the kids.  A fun way to 'run into summer'!

Mothers Day

All three of my boys spoiled me on Mothers Day.  They sure know how to make a girl feel special...flowers, hand prints/foot prints of the babies, jewelry, and a delicious homemade breakfast!

First Beach Trip of 2014

 We made our first trip to the beach (and Landon's first road trip) last weekend.

We all stayed at Ginny and Pops' house, but I spent all day Saturday with several teacher friends on the beach and then at dinner.  It was so nice to just talk and listen to the sound of crashing waves.  I got a tan, had several laughs, and didn't take a single picture!

My three boys were in good hands with Ginny, Pops, and Aunt KT.  The water was still too cold to get in, but Eli had a great time running and playing on the beach.

We tried to get some family pictures on the beach before leaving Sunday morning.  I think we'll be trying again later.  Someone's squinting in every picture!

We can't wait for several more beach trips this summer!

Two Months Old

Landon boy, are you really 2 mths old?  Didn't I just do your 1 mth post?  You're losing your newborn look, and while it's a little sad, it's so exciting to see how big you're getting.  We're all so in love with you and it seems hard to remember when you weren't here with us.  All three of us are loving our new life as a family of four!

Firsts:  having to sit under the stairs in the middle of the night due to tornado warnings (you and Eli were great...Mommy was scared!), trip to the beach, first time at Nana and Puddin's house, and at Ginny and Pops' house, going to school, Mommy got a sling for you...we both love it!

News headlines:  tornadoes close to our home, FSU athlete, Jameis Winston, steals crab legs from Publix...haha!

Milestones:  you're really holding your head up well and becoming more alert during your awake hours.  You really like to look at the fish that hangs down from your playmat.

Measurements:  11 lbs 12 oz, 23.75" long, 15.5" head circumference, size 3 mths clothes, size 1 diapers

Like Mommy:  Always up for a good nap!  : )

Like Daddy:  You've still got those blue eyes! You also like a good car ride.

Like Eli:  Both boys like snuggling with Mommy (of course, Mommy doesn't complain!)

Challenges:  The spit-up/gas/reflux is still slightly an issue.  Overall, you're a very chill and relaxed baby.  This month we wrote the first big double-daycare check...yow-zer!!  We're just thankful God provides all of our needs!  It's kind of a challenge (first world problem maybe?) but we're having to leave you and Eli enrolled at daycare over the summer.  Your school is booming and the waiting lists are just too long.  We don't want to chance it.  You'll probably only go the times I need a "babysitter" (working in my classroom, Eli's soccer camp, etc.).

Our Days:  My alarm goes off at 5:30.  Some days you make it to 5:00ish, and some days you make it until I'm out of the shower.  You eat for just a few minutes and drift off back to sleep.  About 6:45 we wake you back up.  One of us will change you and get you dressed for school while the other gets Eli dressed and ready.  Then I feed you again for a few minutes before we leave for school.  We're pulling out of the driveway by about 7:20/7:25.  Mommy and Eli drop you off in your classroom before Eli goes to his.  You take 2-3 bottles, about 4 oz each, at daycare.

Funny/Favorite Moments:  Our favorite moments would be getting to see you smile and hearing you coo!

Shots

Landon boy, you had your two month check-up this week.  I swung by and got you early from school, we left brother there, and headed to see Dr. Y.  You weighed in at a whopping 11 lbs 12 oz, and were 22.75 inches long, putting you in the 33rd and 34th percentiles, respectively.  Your head circumference was 15.5".

You and Mommy got praises for how well breast-feeding is going.  We got the go ahead to begin adding Vitamin D drops to your bottles at daycare.  Dr. Y also said that there were no worries of torticollis like we had discussed at your two-week visit.

We also discussed your reflux and spitting up.  We're now we're just increasing the gas drops to using them with every feeding, and I can call in to get you some Zantac if I feel like we need it/we want it.

You took your shots like a champ.  Mommy was brave and didn't cry this time, but you sure did.  See those red eyes?!

You'd think I'd know from going through it with brother, but I can't believe how fast you are growing!  We're so thankful for a happy (most of the time) and healthy boy!
