Dreams

I can dream, right?

Oh, and by the way, I'd say that out of pocket average is correct. Maybe a little more this year considering we got zero dollars in instructional money this year, courtesy of this lovely economy!

3 Things You Should Teach Your Kids

I love blog hops. They're so interesting to look at other people's things. I thought this blog hop was very unique. No, I don't have kids, but I do have 18 sweet lovelies from 7:20-3:20, Monday-Friday. (And I do love them very much!)

The blog hop this week is three things you should teach your kids. However, I'm going to add my own twist to my list: 3 things you should teach your kids before sending them off to school!

1. Teach Your Child to Read
Now, I know this sounds a bit extreme. No, I do not think all children should be reading by the time they are 5. That's a lofty goal. However, I do not think it is unreasonable for all kindergardeners should know all of their letters and most, if not all, of their sounds by the time they begin school. I know their teacher would bless you! : ) And, I do believe that you should read to your child - EVERYDAY! It is important to teach your child the value of books and words.

2. Teach Your Child to be a Sweet Friend
That sounds a little silly. When I worked at the daycare and taught 2-4 year olds I used to tell them when they were being a sweet friend (or perhaps get on to them for not being a sweet friend). I'm amazed by how many children do not know how to be sweet friends. They don't know how to respect others, how to share, how to get along with others, how to work together, how to listen, how to give and not just take, etc. There are too many adults who don't know how to be sweet friends! : )

3. Teach Your Child Some Manners
It's amazing to me how many children (how many adults, too) do not have table manners! It never occurred to me in all my years of college that I would be teaching how to properly eat lunch: how to put a napkin in your lap, how to use silverware, not talking with food in your mouth, speaking at a reasonable volume, etc.

I am very blessed to have a wonderful class. I love my students and am so proud to be their teacher! This list includes things that I know Wesley and I will teach our children before they enter school, and we feel are important lessons to know!

Sweet Husband

Wesley surprised me and put these on our car. Isn't our little family cute? : )

It also came with other family members and a dog...to be added later!

Show Us Your Life - Favorite Dessert Recipe

This week at Kelly's Korner it's Your Favorite Dessert Recipes.
This dessert is easy, cheap, quick, and GOOD!

My sister taught me how to make these in college. We'll call this an Apple Ring.

Ingredients: 2 cans of crescent rolls, 1 can apple pie filling, butter, cinnamon sugar

1. Open the crescent rolls and split them at the perforated slits into the triangles. Taking the wide end of the triangles, make a circle. The tips of the triangles will be pointing outwards (sorry, pictures would be helpful now, but I don't have them!). I use my Pampered Chef circular stone.

2. Open the can of Apple Pie filling. Spoon it out into the crescent rolls.

3. Take the tips and fold over on top of the filling and tuck the tip, creating a pocket. Do this all the way around. It will look like a ring.

4. Drizzle butter on top. Sprinkle some cinnamon sugar. Bake at 350 until the crescent rolls are done.

5. Eat and enjoy! : )

Rain, Rain, Go Away! Come Again Another Day!

We have had some rain! Check out Six Flags Under Water in Atlanta, GA.

We live on the Chattahoochee River (well, just a few miles away) and naturally, the water has come down stream. Check it out.

The pictures were taken from the Columbus side. This is looking at the amphitheater on the Phenix City side. The water is up to the seats!

This picture was our favorite! : )
And it wouldn't be complete without a picture of us!!

Grey's Anatomy

Do you watch it? Oh my, I have been waiting since May for this day (well, tomorrow actually). And I can't wait. I'm very proud of myself, I usually can't hold out on finding out a surprise, but I haven't been to show spoilers yet.

OH. MY. GOODNESS.
