Sotter

 This is Wesley's fourth season of coach (third year with girls soccer...or sotter as Eli calls it).  We're off to a slow start.  He's been rained out THREE times over the past few weeks.  Frustrating for him and his team (and for this momma who has a little boy who asks to see sotter every day)!

Although they've had to reschedule so many games, the team is 2-0!

Eli actually sits and watches the game!  After a few minutes of watching the girls' parents, he picked up on proper sideline coaching.   He yells things like, "GO GO GOOOO!  Runnnn! Kick it! Get up, Get up!"

All of the sotter games are played at the "footballstadium" (pronouned by Eli as one word), so of course we HAVE to bring a football to the 'footballstadium'.

And, of course, it only took until the second game for Eli to figure out he could throw the ball over the rail onto the "footballfield".  And that was the end of the football.

Hopefully all of this extra practice thanks to the rain will pay off.  Many more games to come!

2 1/2 Year Check Up

Last week Eli had his 2 1/2 year check up.

I left school a little early, picked up Eli, and we headed to the doctor (Daddy was on his way with friends to see Bon Jovi in ATL).

Eli was in a great mood.  He asked where we were going, I told him, and he said, "Oh, doctor!  She look in throat.  Say ahhh!" Then he said, "Next, ears!" Obviously he knows the drill.

We get there and Eli jumped off of every chair and asked "Who's that?" every time someone walked by helped me to update some paperwork. ... and then it was time to get weighed.

The nurse told us we had to take off shoes and strip down to his diaper.  And the tears began.  Eli has this thing lately about wanting to keep his shoes on.  I think so he can be ready to go outside at a moment's notice.

I have NEVER had him scream like he did at this appointment.  Even after the painful stuff, ya know, like weighing and measuring, was over he had to stay in just his diaper until after Dr. Y got finished doing her thing.  He screamed SO LOUD and for SO LONG that they actually asked if I needed back-up.  Umm, no.  He's just mad, he'll get over it.

I must admit though, these pictures make me laugh!

As far as the appointment goes, everything went great!  We mostly just talked about bedtime routine and potty training.  She assured me it's no big deal that he'll potty at school but not at home. (Which for the record, I'm not the one who's concerned about it.  Daycare always pushes the issue of why I bring him to school in a diaper.)

The Stats:

Weight:  29 lbs (40th percentile)

Length:  34 1/2 inches (11th percentile) -- up 2 inches and 5 percentile points since his 2 year check up!

Head Circumference:  20 inches

We're so thankful for a healthy boy!  Stay tuned for a 2 1/2 year post! : )

"It's Locked!"

Does this look like the face of a sick little boy?

No?  That's because he's not.  We just thought he was (his ears) because he has woken up, at least once, every night the past two weeks or so.  I kid you not.  I'm yawning while typing this.

 

Turns out he's just had some really bad constipation and his tummy hurting has been waking him up at night.

I mean, he's still boo-boo'ing (as we say) once a day, but when you normally are regular three times a day, I guess it hurts ONLY going once.

I guess I should have suspected constipation when he caught him grunting and squeezing earlier this week and he told me in his sweet little voice, "It's locked!" (It's /yocked/)

(We're still laughing at that one!)

I just didn't know it could keep you up at night.  We got some meds, and I guess we'll see if that does the trick! : )

Cold, Happy Trails

This afternoon after lunch we met Nana and Puddin' in Eufaula (about the half-way point between us).  I left some things in Dothan when we were there last weekend, so we met to swap back.

Eufaula is far from a booming metropolis.  There are very few places to eat, and even fewer on a Sunday afternoon.  Even the McDonalds in town is closed for renovations, so we ended up at Arby's.

Afterwards we went to a local trail that runs along the lake.  Parts of it are a rails to trails kind of thing.  Despite the COLD and wind coming off of the lake, the day was beautiful and it was nice to be outside after all of the rain we've had lately!

The scenery was beautiful, but I only got a few shots.  It got to be too cold to pull my hands out of my pockets!

We had such a great afternoon, and Eli was definitely not ready to head home...as evidenced by the face below! : )

We will definitely be going back to this trail...hopefully when it warms up some!

Be Mine

 I hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day!

We started our day with chocolate chip pancakes, and ended it with a night at home and a yummy dinner of grilled steak and potatoes in front of the t.v.  It was the perfect way to kick the weekend off early after a crazy past few days!

For some reason I waited until Wednesday night to get Eli's valentines ready for his class.  I swear, I didn't used to be a procrastinator, but working and having a toddler will do that for ya!  I also decided to do a little Pinterest project with Eli for his teachers.  It was such a perfect project for my little man who loves to help out in the kitchen, and his teachers all raved about their yummy treats!

These things are dangerously addicting...we've already made a second batch!

1/2 Marathon & 5K

 Last weekend we made a trip to Dothan to spend some time with Nana and Puddin, and for Wesley to run his second half-marathon!

We got there a little early Saturday morning, and naturally, Eli spotted the bouncy-house.  He's got an eye for those things.

Last year, my mom ran the half, but this year they added a 5k to the event, so this year she and I did the 5k race.  That left Eli to be Puddin's assistant photographer for the race.

It was a very chilly, windy, 40ish degree morning, which was really cold prior to the race, but turned out to be awesome running weather!

 I have been suffering from the longest sinus infection known to man.  I think I waited way too long to go to the doctor.  The sinus infection basically exploding in my face and spread to my eyes...meaning ugly glasses/12 year old Rebecca all.week.long.  Glasses are soo not fun to run in, btw.

BUT, mom and I did pretty good!  We ran it together and finished in 34:04, which is our fastest times yet!

Wesley said that he took off with the pack at the start of the race, and didn't realize how fast he was going, but kept a 7 minute pace for the first 8 miles!!  What??!

Now, on to the next races - a color run in March and the Finish on the 50 run in Auburn (War Eagle) in April.  Lots to look forward to this spring!

Another Potty Post

We're still not quite "potty-training", so to speak.  Eli sometimes sits on the potty at home (although mostly just at school), but....last night...

Eli boo-boo'd on the potty!!!  Woo-hoo!!!

Daddy insisted we go get ice cream to celebrate.  And who am I to deny a kid ice cream after a boo-boo in the potty?  So we all shared a hot fudge brownie bowl from Brusters.  So good.

Of course, after this picture was taken, Eli pooped in his diaper.  He then proceeded to get my keys and told me to, "Get in Momma car.  Get iii cream!"

Haha!  He hasn't quite figured out how this works...or has he?!

I can't believe my boy will be 2 1/2 this month, and is practically out of diapers.  He's growing up sooo quickly!
