Two Months Old

(A day late...)

Firsts: Meeting Aunt Caitle and Uncle Clark, several trips to Auburn and Tiger Walk (and high fiving Cam Newton), time to go to Country's BBQ (a big deal to Daddy), jogging with Daddy through the neighborhood, trip to the pumpkin patch/carving pumpkins, trip to BFG (Bible Fellowship Group) with Mommy and Daddy, and your very first package in the mail (your Halloween costume).

News headlines: Auburn is currently 8-0 and ranked #1 in the BCS (War Eagle!), Don't Ask/Don't Tell in the military, the Giants and Rangers are headed to the World Series, 33 Chilean miners rescued after 69 days, upcoming midterm elections, and, like last month, I'm sure there are many more things - we just don't have time to watch the news!

Milestones: You have found your hands and fists a few times now. It's so funny to watch you waving your hands around and all of a sudden you notice that there's something attached to that arm. Mommy went back to work. You are holding your head up so much better (although it still bobbles some) and you are smiling and "talking" more and more each day. You are staying awake a little longer in between feedings. You have a very faint birth mark that is appearing on your left thigh. Your hair on the top of your head is really beginning to grow. You also love to 'ride your bicycle' and are kicking your legs faster and faster. Daddy is already trying to teach you to walk. Although it isn't a milestone, you hold your thumbs in between your middle and pointer fingers. You also keep your fists closed so tightly that your hands have a sweet, baby sweat smell to them sometimes.

Measurements: We're guessing around 13-14 pounds. Your two month appointment isn't for a few more weeks, so we'll find out for sure then. We measured you just yesterday and you are about 23 inches long (your legs are looking so long). You are still in size 1 diapers, but we're on our last box. When you run out we're going on to the size 2 diapers.

Like Mommy: Brown eyes (we're not 100% sure they'll stay this way, but that's what it's looking like), you like to eat! I like to think you like to read (or be read to).

Like Daddy: You are becoming more and more active. Daddy says you and he have similar haircuts. You and Dad also watch SportsCenter in the mornings while Mommy is in the shower. And, like last month, your good looks and laid back personality!

Challenges: You usually go to sleep between 9-10. Sometimes you will sleep until 5-6 and sometimes you get up once during the night for a 10-15 minute feeding. The challenge came last Friday. You woke up at 4:15 and wanted a full feeding, and Mommy has to get up at 5 to get in the shower. It was a veryyy long day, but thank goodness it was Friday!

Our Days: Mommy gets up at 5 and gets completely ready for work. I get you up at 6, change your diaper and feed you, etc., so I can be out the door by 7. I go to work while you stay with Anna, Katie, or Nana. You eat three times during the day while Mommy and Daddy are at school. After school we snuggle and take naps together. Of course we watch Katie Couric, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. You usually get a bath every other night, and you still love it! We say prayers, sing, and sometimes read stories before bed. You hardly fit in the cradle in your pack n play anymore (yes, you still sleep next to Mommy's side of the bed - she's just not ready to move you out yet). Your favorite songs are still "You Are My Sunshine", "Jesus Loves Me", "War Eagle", any hymn, and the Sponge Bob theme song (instead of "Sponge Bob SquarePants" we say "E-li Charles Taff").

Funny/Favorite Moments: We still love to watch you stretch, when you cry or get upset you poke your bottom lip over your top lip, when you sneeze, when you ride your bicycle, and my favorite would be when you smile and talk to us!

Nicknames: Squirmy or Squirmy Wormy, Drool Monkey, Little Man, Dude, and Buddy.

Upcoming Events: dressing up for Halloween, Trick or Treating, and the Fall Festival at Church, your first 5k run, your first Auburn football game @ Jordan Hare Stadium, 2 month appointments/shots, and beginning daycare.
