Five Months Old

Eli, you are five months old...how can that be? I remember being pregnant like it was just last week. We've come so far as a family, and yet it seems like it's all happening so quickly. More and more I see how our lives are but a mist here on this Earth. You have changed SO much in the past month. You are so active! Daddy and I love you so, so much and are so proud of you!

Firsts: Plane ride, trip out West, White Christmas, seeing "real" (as in....a lot of) snow, stay in church nursery, call sick from daycare, visit to Calvary, rolling over (tummy to back)

News headlines: Auburn wins the National Championship, Republicans take over the House, AZ representative Gabrielle Giffords is shot in Tuscon, Verizon announces release of iPhone, State of the Union address

Milestones: You have now tried bananas, pears, and apples! Bananas are by far your favorite. You like the real thing though. Every night you get half a banana pureed in the Magic Bullet. You don't like "processed bananas" (baby food) nearly as much. You now frequently roll from your tummy to your back. You love that you have figured out a way to get out of tummy time! You are close to rolling over back to tummy too. You LOVE your bouncer that you got for Christmas. You now bounce in it often and jump back and forth from side to side. You love things with texture. You rub and scratch everything you can get your hands on. You're also starting to get two little teeth. The whites are beginning to push through your gums. You drool like crazy and put whatever you can in your mouth.

Measurements: Close to 17.5 lbs (still size 2 diapers), 25+ inches long (Your legs are now long enough to reach the floor while you're in your bouncer!)

Like Mommy: You love your sleep! We both fall asleep very easily in the car. And it's looking like we both have brown eyes. We also both love an after-school nap!

Like Daddy: You LOVE to go outside! You and Daddy have the same laid-back personality.

Challenges: Right now our biggest trouble is your cradle cap. This weather is doing nothing for your dry skin!

Our Days: You're going to bed each night between 8:30-9:00ish and you get up when we wake you up around 6-6:30. You eat before school, take three bottles and rice/cereal while you're at school, and then eat two or three more times at home again. When we're home we play, read stories, and you get a bath (which you LOVE)!

Funny/Favorite Moments: Mommy's favorite moment of the past month is getting to see you roll over. I was so afraid that it would happen at daycare. I love watching you roll and scoot around. You think you are big stuff! Daddy loved watching you try bananas for the first time!

Nicknames: Squirmy or Squirmy Wormy, Squirms, Squirmy Wormy Doodle All Day, or Sir Squirms/Sir Squirms - A - Lot, Drool Monkey, Doodle Bug, Little Man, Dude, and Buddy.
